Now one could have the constant stress of Dead Space's atmosphere and instead take your weapons away, except again, you spend most of the game just imprisoned, and you only ever get to run-well not even that, just slightly jog and walk for two segments that you share with Blake and as I've said lead to more imprisonment and then death. Well Dead Space is more about some shooty-shooty gun-gun type of dealio, and is only ever rarely effective, mostly reliant on jumpscares and the physical deformity of your enemies, which got exhausted real fast-Outlast's universe doesn't really leave any room to imagine anymore physical deformity than Loutermilch or the Scalled, and it doesn't seem to be fit for shooter action, or at least, since it was brought up earlier, Lynn's story doesn't seem like the appropriate ground for that. What do you think of a Dead Space game with the similar set up of Outlast? I would expect from an indie studio that splinters off of Ubisoft to not follow its footsteps to closely, but we'll see how that turns out. If Lynn hadn't been set up as this damsel in distress, then there would've been potential to make some sort of big chase DLC where you don't really get much of a second to breathe but the game makes it clear that she's really just stuck most of the time, so that specifically wouldn't be fun I assume.Īs for their Murkoff angle, I don't care all that much even though it's already starting to get exhausted so I would definitely enjoy that, but the important thing is that gameplay becomes the real focus there when Capcom did that for RE7, although they kept the whole Umbrella thing, they managed to cover every part of the survival horror spectrum-from just running away for your life at any first thing that comes across you to emptying buckets of ammo at monstrous insanities-with absolute brilliance.
